The 15 Legends in the Database

The calculator includes profiles for 15 all-time greats across every position: Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo R9, Ronaldinho, Luka Modrić, Xavi Hernandez, Andrés Iniesta, Thierry Henry, Andrea Pirlo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, N’Golo Kanté, Paolo Maldini, Roberto Carlos, and Gianluigi Buffon. Each is profiled across 10 attributes — the same 10 you rate yourself on.

How the Matching Algorithm Works

Your profile is compared to each legend using a trait distance calculation. For each attribute, the algorithm measures the gap between your score and the legend’s score — smaller gaps mean higher similarity. Position bonus: if your position matches a legend’s known position, similarity increases. Foot bonus: matching foot preference adds a small bonus. The top two closest matches combine to form your hybrid result.

How to Rate Yourself Honestly

Be honest, not aspirational. Rate yourself relative to your actual level of play — not the player you want to be. If you play Sunday league, pace 80 means you’re genuinely one of the fastest players at that level, not that you’re as fast as Thierry Henry. The algorithm works best when ratings reflect real comparative performance within your playing context.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really be similar to Messi or Zidane?

The comparison is about style, not absolute quality. If you’re a left-footed attacking midfielder with high creativity and passing, low pace and defense — your profile shape resembles Messi’s regardless of your actual skill level. It’s a style match, not a talent match.

What if my position doesn’t match any legend?

The algorithm still matches your trait profile, just without the position bonus. A center back with high passing and game IQ might still match Pirlo or Modrić by style even if position differs.

Why are there two legend matches?

Most players are stylistic hybrids — combining traits from multiple legends. A box-to-box midfielder might be 60% Kanté (defensive intensity, stamina) and 40% Modrić (passing, game IQ). The two-legend result is more accurate than forcing a single match.

How is the overall rating calculated?

It’s the average of all 10 attribute scores you entered. A rating of 70+ is above average; 80+ is strong; 90+ is elite within your level of play.
