The record and the kicks right behind it

The top of the page holds the record: Cam Little’s 68-yarder for the Jaguars in Las Vegas on November 2, 2025, with the next four longest beside it. The record moved slowly for decades. Tom Dempsey’s 63 yards in 1970 was matched three times but not beaten until Matt Prater hit 64 in Denver in December 2013; Justin Tucker pushed it to 66 in 2021, and Little added two yards. Only regular-season and playoff games count, so Little’s 70-yarder in a 2025 preseason game is left out, and kicks of the same length are listed oldest first.

Reading the kick field

The green strip is measured in field goal distance, counted from where the ball is kicked to the goalposts on the right, which is the line of scrimmage plus 17 yards, not the yard lines painted on the field. Below it, the 60 to 69 yard part is enlarged: every made kick of 60+ yards is one dot, stacked by distance, with the four made before 1999 drawn lighter. Tapping a dot names the kicker, the game and the date, and says how the kick stood against the record at that moment: Little’s 68 broke Tucker’s 66, while his 67 two months later came up a yard short of his own mark.

The full list of 60+ yard kicks

The list under the field holds the same kicks as text, longest first, with the first ten shown and the rest a tap away; tapping a row picks that kick on the field. All time includes the four older kicks, Since 2020 shows how much of the list is recent, and the current-season view fills in as games are played. No field goal of 60 yards or more has been made in the playoffs; the postseason best is 58.

Looking up a kicker

Any kicker with a field goal try since 1999 can be found by name, and a second name lays the two side by side. Each card gives the longest made kick, its place among 197 kickers with a make, and how many went in from 50 and 60 yards. Brandon Aubrey’s 65 ties him for third behind Little and Tucker, and his seven makes from 60+ are the most of anyone. Below the cards, each distance range shows the kicker as a dot against a tick for the whole league in the seasons he played, and a range with fewer than ten tries shows only the count.

How often kicks from a distance go in

The slider counts every try within two yards of the chosen distance, so moving it by a yard doesn’t make the numbers jump, and splits them into three periods. From 55 to 59 yards, kickers made 37 of 118 tries from 1999 to 2009, 54% in the 2010s and 64% since 2020. These are results of real attempts, and coaches only send a kicker out from long range when they trust him or the half is ending, so the share isn’t the chance any kicker would have. From 60 yards and longer every single try is listed with its result.

Field goals from 55 to 59 yards: 64% made since 2020, 54% in 2010 to 2019 and 31% in 1999 to 2009, with three make-rate curves by distance
At 57 yards the three periods sit far apart: 31%, 54% and 64% of tries went in.

Whether a stadium has a roof matters less than it seems: from 50 to 59 yards since 2015, kicks under a roof went in 70% of the time and outdoor kicks 67%.

Long kicks, season by season

The bars count tries from 60+ yards in each season, with the made ones filled in. From 1999 through 2011 there were never more than two makes from that range in a year; 2025 had 12, more than any season before it. The current season is drawn with a dashed outline because it is still being played, and tapping any bar gives that season’s numbers.

The kickers and the distance you pick are saved in the page address, so a copied link opens the same comparison.
